Google Lens brings vision-based computing to your smartphone

Listen to article

Google has announced a new initiative that will bring vision-based computing capabilities to mobile devices – the Google Lens.

Google lens is a set of vision-based computing capabilities that can understand what you’re looking at and help you take action based on that information.

It utilizes your smartphone’s camera to scan an object and tells you what it is, scan WiFi SSID barcodes then automatically connects your device to the network, or identify an establishment like a restaurant and provide you with ratings and other details.

Google Lens will ship soon first in Google Assistant and Photos and will come to other products in the near future.
