Ahora que disfrutamos de la mensajería instantánea a través de Facebook Messenger, Whatsapp, Viber, Line y muchas otras aplicaciones similares, el legendario Yahoo Messenger pronto se despedirá, pero no por completo.

Esto ocurre después del anuncio de Amotz Maimon, Arquitecto Jefe de Yahoo, sobre la optimización de los servicios que Yahoo proporciona a sus usuarios. A partir de 5 de agosto de 2016, se cortará el soporte para la aplicación heredada (legacy) de Yahoo Messenger. La versión heredada es la aplicación independiente instalada en computadoras de escritorio; por lo tanto, las versiones más nuevas para móvil, web y Yahoo Mail seguirán siendo funcionales.

El servicio comenzó en 1998 y ganó popularidad a finales de la década de 2000. ¿Quién va a extrañar las salas de chat nocturnas con mucha gente aleatoria?

Good job for misinterpreting the source! Shut down of support means no more updates afterwards, but the servers will still be up and the application will still be usable.
