Gadget Reviews Roundup: June 2019

We’re in the last month of the first half of 2019 and the previous month has brought interesting devices for review like the Redmi K20 Pro, OPPO Reno series, and the Lenovo Legion Y740. If you missed any of our reviews, then check out our Gadget Reviews Roundup for the month of May.

Written:

Redmi K20 Pro

While the Redmi K20 Pro is not officially the Pocophone F1’s successor, it has everything it takes to be it. It’s not as cheap as the F1, but it checks all the boxes that made the F1 so great last year, plus more. With everything you get — the S-tier performance, the cameras, the display, design, battery — it’s shockingly affordable.

Huawei Watch GT

The Huawei Watch GT is a great wearable that you can use as your daily time-keeper and fitness tracker. It has all the things you need especially if you are keen on monitoring your activities. With a price tag of PHP 12,990, the Huawei Watch GT is not too pricey for a smartwatch of this kind.

Huawei Y5 2019

The Huawei Y5 2019 has its pros with its unique design, bright display, fairly competent performance, and modest battery life. However, some of the cons such as a single RAM offering, face unlock response time, average photo quality, lack of fingerprint security, outweigh the pros. However, if you’re just looking for an attractive phone for your basic needs, the Huawei Y5 2019 may be for you.

Lenovo Legion Y740

The Lenovo Legion Y740 is, without a doubt, a great gaming laptop. Not only does it deliver above-average performance, but it also has a stylish design that people would like to see. Aside from that, it has a 144Hz display, excellent audio quality, four exhaust vents, and it has an overall premium build. Its disadvantages, like the short battery life, are quite negligible at this point given that this is a gaming laptop after all.

OPPO Reno

Let’s list down everything you get for the money. You get an outstanding design, amazing cameras, a long-lasting battery with fast charging, cool shark-fin camera, in-display fingerprint scanner, and some creature comforts like USB-C and Gorilla Glass on both sides. Despite having the same performance as a phone that costs more than PHP 10K less, all the extra features you get with the Reno justify its price.

Vivo Y17

The Vivo Y17 has its pros up its sleeve, such as its incredible battery life, bright display, modest camera quality, and that sweet wide-angle camera quality. On the downside, however, it still has a micro USB port, graphics-intensive games lag, and video playback can only go up to a maximum of 720p. For its price tag of PHP 12,999, we do feel like the Y17 is a little overpriced for what it offers.

OPPO Reno 10x Zoom Edition

If you can afford it, you’ll be getting a device that can handle your day to day tasks easily. It has a great design, battery performance, cameras, and speakers. Not to mention the periscope camera with a whopping 60x digital zoom and the rising front camera design. So yes, I do recommend this shark of a flagship killer to those looking at the OnePlus 7 Pro and any other flagships out now.
