Android 6.0 Marshmallow reaches 15% share among devices

Just last month, Google reported that their latest Android version that’s available to the general public (because Android N is just around the corner) is now enjoyed by 10.1% of Android users around the globe. And it’s that time of the month again to see how the version is keeping up.

The numbers are in and the version 6.0 or famously known as Marshmallow is now at 15.2%. Though the previous version 4.4 KitKat is still ahead at 29.2% and the Lollipop (both 5.0 and 5.1) are at 35.5%.

With Android 7.0 Nougat in a few month, we can’t help but get disappointed on how the update is rolling to Android devices. Google is not the main culprit here since the manufacturers tend to customize their own Android version for the devices which causes too much delay. Hopefully, in the coming versions, all Android users can enjoy the latest update flavor available as soon as possible.

it seems that google is forcing old versions to be unusable. Meron pa akong gingerbread na CP, It is working fine with calls, text message and browsing. Pero there are apps na hindi na gumagana, although the app can still be installed but when opening it, it has an error saying that the google services on this device is not compatible. Another issue is ung youtube, before the release of lollipop nakakanood pa ako sa youtube app pero after nun ayaw na syang gumana. I even did a hard reset to make sure its not a conflict with the apps installed pero ayaw pa rin gumana.

true. kaya nga mapapabili ako ng phone kasi wala na talaga akong madownload na apps na gumagana sa gingerbread. so 5 years lang pala life nitong smartphone ko. sad.

Oo nga e. Kahit na usuable pa sya in a way parang sinasabi na kung gusto mong gumamit pa ng mga apps na ginagamit mo dati ay dapat mag-upgrade ka na rin. Sad talaga especially dun sa mga low salary na katulad ko. Kung baga simple lang naman ang gusto ko. Makapanood ng video sa youtube and other sites and some social media pero since low end and outdated pa ang phone ko nganga na lang.
