Converge, DOTr, and airport authorities partner to bring free public WiFi at 9 airports nationwide

Converge has partnered with the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and as well as airport operators to help extend free public WiFi services in 9 international and domestic airports across the Philippines.

Converge signed a memorandum of agreement with the DOTr, Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP), Mactan-Cebu, Manila, and Davao International Airport Authorities for the provision of free, fast, and reliable internet in airports in the country.

Converge is given 90 days from the signing of the MOA to come up with its roll-out plan with it being expected to launch its first free public wifi by the 1st quarter of 2023.

As of the moment, the said free public internet connectivity will cover the arrival and departure areas of all terminals of the following airports:

  1. Ninoy Aquino International Airport
  2. Francisco Bangoy International Airport
  3. Mactan-Cebu International Airport
  4. Bacolod-Silay Airport
  5. Iloilo International Airport
  6. Laoag International Airport
  7. Pagadian Airport
  8. Tacloban Airport
  9. Zamboanga International Airport.

The partnership will see Converge provide free access to internet services for 120 minutes per day per registered user.

Passengers will also experience a minimum bandwidth of 1Gbps at 80% service reliability at both arrival and departure areas of said airports.
