Android 4.2.2 finally arrives on the HTC One

Listen to article

Updates on the HTC One started tricking in to handset owners since last week-end, based on feedback from local owners. We finally got the update on our own unit last night.

The update came in two rounds, the first one was an incremental 1.47MB update that will trigger the final update.

Aside from the standard Android 4.2.2 features, the update includes a number of bug fixes and enhancements to the HTC One UI.

Currently downloading the update. The size of the file is 418.34MB but another update had to be downloaded to prepare the fone for the main update. Cool.

After the update, the phone is noticeably smoother. And at last, no more black bar at the bottom for menu!

i bought mine on an online store here in the philippines. i guess it’s unlocked cause i can use it on any network here in phil. why does everytime i check for an update, it says that there is no latest software version?

Even if you bought your unit online locally,, perhaps the unit software built might be for other countries e.g. UAE, etc in this case you will be able to recieve the update when it rolls down to that particular region of the world regardless of your current location. I had the same experience with my galaxy note 2 before. I bought it from Greenhills and the software built was for UAE. The local released units usually bear the NTC sticker.

Thanks richard for the answer. How will you know what region the software was built for? that’s the last question after that i’ll shut up. Lol.

Nah, if you already have a Galaxy S4 there’s no real reason to ditch it for HTC One unless aesthetics is a big deal to you.
