New Android logo: 3D and more playful

As Google calls it ‘bugdroid’, the iconic Android mascot is now represented in 3D. This gives it more depth and definitely, a cute appearance. There are even a variety of 3D looks from a bejeweled mirror ball to a vibrant rainbow.

It now appears having “more dimension, and a lot more character,” the search giant said in its Keyword blog.

And the ‘Android’—now with an uppercase ‘A’—typeface will now closely match the Google logo.

“While we’ve added more curves and personality unique to Android, the new Android stylization more closely mirrors Google’s logo and creates balance between the two,” says the company.

Upcoming feature drops

In addition to the snazzy new logo, Android users can look forward to some exciting upcoming feature drops. Google has revealed updates to its At a Glance widget, enhancements to the Lookout visual accessibility app, and even Zoom calls in Android Auto.

Android 14 stable release could coincide Pixel 8 launch

The stable release for the latest version of Android was supposedly scheduled for September 5, 2023. A new rumor suggests that Android 14 releases on the same day as the Pixel 8 unveiling.

According to tipster Mishaal Rahman, OEMs have received notifications that the Android 14 Security Release Notes, which detail vulnerabilities, publishes on October 4, 2023. This potentially indicates the release date for the new Android version, which coincides with the speculated launch date of the Google Pixel 8 Series.

OEMs like OnePlus have announced an Android 14-based OxygenOS 14 showcase on September 25th. It is unclear whether the delay will affect this. Or will Google impose an embargo until the stable Android 14 comes out.
