Discord has now expanded the availability of Server Subscriptions to allow creators on Discord to earn money directly with their server.
This would entail creators can now offer their very own subscription plans in exchange for unique roles, perks, or benefits while taking home 90% of their earnings after applicable deductions.
Discord has also created a new Creator Portal to help guide creators in expanding their community and servers.
It features an expansive resource tailor-made for creators or communities on Discord that wish to utilize Server Subscriptions and lessons from fellow creators such as Marques Brownlee.
Creators can even share their Server Subscriptions outside their Discord community with promo pages that allow you to create a shareable webpage to promote your Server Subscription.
Discord has said that Server Subscriptions can range anywhere from USD 2.99 to USD 199.99 in price.
To enable Server Subscriptions, your server must meet the following requirements.
- The server owner must be based in the United States
- Your server has a good standing with Discord, meaning no recent Terms of Service or Community Guideline violations
- Must agree to Discord’s updated Monetization Terms and Server Subscriptions Policy
To begin with Server Subscriptions, head over to Server Settings, and under the Monetization category, simply enable Server Subscriptions to begin creating your offering.
Unfortunately, as Discord has pointed out, this is only applicable in the United States at the moment and only future updates will tell if they decide to expand it in the Philippines or in other nations.
