Display
Looks like the M4 Pro 5G offers several improvements over its predecessor, the M3 Pro 5G. The display is where there’s minimal change, with the only difference being the size of the screen as the former is 0.1-inch larger. However, that difference is negligible and won’t be noticed in everyday use.
The rest were maintained like the FHD+ resolution, IPS panel, 90Hz refresh rate, and the Gorilla Glass 3 protection.
Chipset
The M4 Pro 5G packs a newer chipset which is the 6nm MediaTek Dimensity 810. The M3 Pro 5G, on the other hand, has the 7nm MediaTek Dimensity 700. The former has a max clock speed of 2.4GHz, while the latter has 2.2GHz. Both are also equipped with a Mali-G57 MC2 GPU.
Based on the AnTuTu v9 benchmark results provided by Kimovil, the M4 Pro 5G got a score of 355,018, while the M3 Pro 5G got 324,283. There’s definitely an improvement in performance.
Memory and Storage
Both devices share the same memory configuration. They are offered in either 4GB + 64GB UFS 2.2 or 6GB + 128GB UFS 2.2. Their storage is expandable via a microSD card but uses a hybrid slot instead of a dedicated one.
Cameras
This is the part where they differ much. Aside from the redesigned camera module, the predecessor used a triple-rear camera setup with dedicated macro and depth lenses, while the successor went for fewer cameras, opting for a higher main camera resolution and an ultra-wide lens. If you prefer ultra-wide lenses over macro and depth lenses, you will enjoy the M4 Pro 5G.
For the front camera, the M4 Pro 5G got an upgrade with a higher resolution sensor at 16MP, compared to the lower 8MP of the M3 Pro 5G.
Connectivity and Features
When it comes to connectivity, everything is almost the same. We have Dual-SIM, 5G, WiFi ac, Bluetooth 5.1, NFC, USB-C, GPS, 3.5 audio jack, side-mounted fingerprint scanners, and an IR Blaster. However, the M4 Pro 5G has dual speakers, which makes watching videos and playing games sound more immersive.
Battery
The two devices have the same battery capacity at 5,000mAh. However, the M4 Pro 5G has better fast charging at 33W vs 18W on the M3 Pro 5G.
Price
POCO M4 Pro 5G:
• 4GB + 64GB – PHP 11,990
• 6GB + 128GB – PHP 12,990
POCO M3 Pro 5G:
• 4GB + 64GB – PHP 8,990
• 6GB + 128GB – PHP 11,990
As you can see, the POCO M4 Pro 5G is more expensive than the POCO M3 Pro 5G. For PHP 11,990, you will be getting the 4GB + 128GB model, whereas it’s the 6GB + 128GB model on the predecessor.
If you’re on a budget, there’s no harm getting the POCO M3 Pro 5G 4GB + 64GB. It is still a solid device for something priced at PHP 8,990. If memory and storage are your priority for the lowest price possible, go for the 6GB + 128GB.
However, if you have a bigger budget, and want better cameras, a newer chipset, dual speakers, and a faster charging rate, the POCO M4 Pro 5G is worth getting.
