Redmi Note 7 vs Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro: What’s Different?

The Redmi Note 7 caught a lot of people by surprise when it launched due to its interesting price-to-specs ratio. Today, we’ll compare it with the Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro, and see the differences between them. Let’s start!

So what’s different between them?

Redmi Note 7

  • Taller screen aspect ratio
  • Higher screen resolution
  • Corning Gorilla Glass 5
  • Better performing CPU
  • Better performing GPU
  • Larger maximum RAM capacity
  • USB Type-C
  • QuickCharge 4.0
  • More affordable*

Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro

  • Higher front camera resolution

Let’s start with their branding. The Redmi Note 7 drops the Xiaomi name by becoming a sub-brand just like with the Pocophone (see our report here). So you can basically say that the Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro is the last smartphone that will be named under the Xiaomi brand.

Going with its specs, the Redmi Note 7 comes with a better display configuration than the Redmi Note 6 Pro, especially with its Corning Gorilla Glass version. For this aspect, both smartphones deliver great viewing experiences but the former has the upper-hand here.

In terms of overall performance, the Redmi Note 7 is better with its Snapdragon 660 chipset. This also means that its gaming capability is more superior than the Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro, not to mention that it has a 6GB RAM variant.

Now the camera configuration of the Redmi Note 7 is the main reason why the people are very shocked but there’s actually a twist in this. The 48MP Samsung GM1 sensor is basically an interpolated 12MP one.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro comes with a 20MP front camera which is higher than the Redmi Note 7 so I suggest that users can go with the former when it comes to selfie capabilities.

In terms of battery capacity, both smartphones have the same mAh but the Redmi Note 7 comes with a QuickCharge 4.0 fast charging technology.

Here are the prices of each smartphone:

  • Redmi Note 7 3GB + 32GB – CNY 999 (~PHP 7,675)
  • Redmi Note 7 4GB + 64GB – CNY 1,199 (~PHP 9,211)
  • Redmi Note 7 6GB + 64GB – CNY 1,399 (~PHP 10,748)
  • Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro 3GB + 32GB – PHP 10,999
  • Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro 4GB + 64GB – PHP 12,990

Overall, it is evident that the Redmi Note 7 has the upper hand. The only advantage that the Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro is its selfie capabilities, therefore, if you’re using one right now, then the Redmi Note 7 is a good upgrade especially with its more affordable price (based on converted price). We hope that it could maintain that aggressive pricing when it lands in the Philippines.
