Samsung Galaxy S10+ scores 109 point on DxOMark, takes top spot in selfie category

After the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S10+, DxOMark has released a report on how its cameras fare and it did not disappoint.

The Galaxy S10 got an overall score of 109 points which is caused by two parameters — the photo and video quality. For the former, the device received 114 points with the following pros and cons:

Pros

  • Accurate white balance and good color rendering
  • Low noise levels when shooting indoors and in low light
  • Wide dynamic range and excellent highlight protection
  • Well-exposed flash images with hardly any light fall-off
  • Good detail in close-range zoom images
  • Realistic bokeh effect with good blur gradient and shape

Cons

  • Lack of fine detail in most conditions
  • Loss of sharpness across the field
  • Lack of detail at longer zoom settings
  • Ringing in bright light
  • Some subject isolation artifacts in bokeh mode

The video only got 97 points which, 2 points less than the Xiaomi Mi 9 score. Here are the pros and cons:

Pros

  • Good white balance in color
  • Fast and accurate autofocus
  • Effective stabilization
  • Good target exposure and decent dynamic range

Cons

  • Luminance noise in all conditions
  • Ringing and judder effect in bright light
  • Slightly undersaturated colors in low light
  • Loss of sharpness and stepping when tracking a subject
  • Some exposure instabilities, especially in bright light

One thing to note, however, is that it received the highest score in terms of selfies making the device the top 1 in this aspect. For the overall mobile ranking, The Samsung Galaxy S10+ is tied up with the Huawei P20 Pro in second place.
