The Snapdragon 710 is one of the newest premium mid-range chipsets from Qualcomm. It is built on the 10nm process technology and has plenty of advantages over the 600-tier like multi-core AI Engine and neural network processing capabilities. However, there’s not a lot of smartphones in the market that have it. As of writing, we only have the OPPO R17 Pro and the Meizu X8. So for this article, we’re highlighting other Snapdragon 710-powered smartphones that we want to see in the country.
The Samsung Galaxy A8s was announced in December and features a new display design called the Infinity-O display. It has a 6.4-inch screen, up to 8GB of RAM, 128GB of storage, 24MP + 10MP + 5MP triple rear cameras, 24MP front camera, Android Pie with Samsung One UI, and 3,400mAh battery. The Galaxy A8s is priced in China for CNY 2,999PHP 24,175USD 412INR 34,917EUR 392 (~PHP 23,311.29USD 397INR 33,675EUR 378CNY 2,893).
What we have so far in the Philippines is the Snapdragon 835-powered Nokia 8, but there’s also a Nokia 8.1, also known as the Nokia X7. Announced last December 2018, it runs on a Snapdragon 710. It has a better design, a larger notched screen, 12MP + 13MP rear cameras, 20MP front camera, up to 6GB of RAM, up to 128GB of storage, and 3,500mAh battery. The Nokia 8.1 is priced at EUR 399PHP 24,581USD 419INR 35,507CNY 3,051 (~PHP 23,814.83USD 406INR 34,403EUR 387CNY 2,955).
Lenovo released a few phones before 2018 ended and one of them is the Z5s. It sports a 6.3-inch waterdrop screen, 16MP + 8MP + 5MP rear cameras, 16MP front camera, aluminum build, up to 6GB of RAM, up to 128GB of storage, and 3,300mAh battery. It’s an eye-candy too and comes in multiple color variants, which is a trend nowadays. The Lenovo Z5s is priced at CNY 1,398PHP 11,269USD 192INR 16,277EUR 183 (~PHP 10,757.45USD 183INR 15,540EUR 175CNY 1,335) for the 4GB + 64GB model, and CNY 1,598PHP 12,881USD 220INR 18,605EUR 209 (~PHP 12,296.43USD 210INR 17,763EUR 200CNY 1,526) for the 6GB + 64GB, and CNY 1,898PHP 15,300USD 261INR 22,098EUR 248 (~PHP 14,604.89USD 249INR 21,098EUR 237CNY 1,812) for the 6GB + 128GB.
The other Lenovo phone is the Z5 Pro with a 6.39-inch screen, 6GB of RAM, up to 128GB of storage, 16MP + 24MP rear cameras, 16MP + 8MP front cameras, in-display fingerprint scanner, and 3,350mAh battery. The slide-out design of this phone makes it stand out among the rest. It’s also a good pick over the Z5s if you want a smartphone with quad cameras. The Lenovo Z5 Pro is priced at CNY 1,998PHP 16,106USD 275INR 23,262EUR 261 (~PHP 15,317.49USD 261INR 22,128EUR 249CNY 1,901) for the 64GB model and CNY 2,298PHP 18,524USD 316INR 26,755EUR 301 (~PHP 17,617.41USD 300INR 25,450EUR 286CNY 2,186) for the 128GB.
Vivo also has a Snapdragon 710-powered phone in the form of the Z3. Marketed as a gaming phone, it comes with a 6.3-inch screen, 6GB of RAM, up to 128GB of storage, 16MP + 2MP rear cameras, 12MP front camera, IR Face Unlock, and 3,315mAh battery. For the gaming part, it boasts a Twin-Turbo acceleration technology and 4D Game Shock. The Vivo Z3 is priced at CNY 1,598PHP 12,881USD 220INR 18,605EUR 209 (~PHP 14,769USD 252INR 21,335EUR 240CNY 1,833) for the 6GB + 64GB model, and CNY 2,298PHP 18,524USD 316INR 26,755EUR 301 (~PHP 17,881USD 305INR 25,831EUR 290CNY 2,219) for the 6GB + 128GB.
So far we have no word yet if these phones will arrive in the country, but we hope some them do and with a reasonable price tag.
