[Updated: Read our full review of the SE Xperia X10 ] Finally gotten my hands on the new Sony-Ericsson Xperia X10 and this was after visiting at least four SE stores in the Metro. Either this handset is very in demand or Sony-Ericsson just didn’t ship in enough units to sell.
Perhaps they wanted to get rid of the remaining Xperia X2 inventories that they have.
Another curious discovery is that despite the earlier announcement that the suggested retail price is Php32,500, all of the stores I asked (and even the one where I bought mine) were selling it for at least Php34,500.
Anyway, I got the white version and the unit reminded me of the time I got the white iPhone 3G (just plastic but has that ceramic-finish look). It’s a little thick but not that thick to be really chunky — just enough to hold with one hand despite that large 4-inch screen. This is my 3rd Android phone (HTC Hero and Google Nexus One) and I feel I am missing something — maybe I’m just so used to the Sense UI.
The unit came with an 8GB microSD (complete specs here) and Android 1.6 pre-installed. The people from the SE store told me that upgrade for Android 2.0 should be available by May and I can bring it back to them and they’ll do the upgrade for me. Watch out for the full review next week.

@temp
i curently own and omnia 2 and i don’t recommend it!
it will be super bagal in the long run (3 months used and mabagal na agad).
X10 or HD2 that’s my bet.
my two cents:
X10 is limited to 65k colors because of Android 1.6 (will be fixed in future OS update)
Omnia II is also limited to 65k colors despite being AMOLED because of Windows Mobile OS limitation (no way to fix)
X10 has capacitive screen but can’t support multi-touch (hardware related)
X10 will be updated to Android 2.0/2.1 from 1.6 in a few months
HD2 has an outdated software (WinMo 6.5.3) but the upcoming Windows Phone 7 OS will not support the HD2
If you want HD2 with Android wait for the HTC EVO 4G to be available here. Everything’s the same except for the OS.
If you want AMOLED screen, go for HTC Desire or Omnia HD.
If you want a ginormous screen with Android go for the X10, or HTC EVO 4G.
If you want a ginormous screen despite WinMo you can settle for the HD2.
just my two cents….
Does it have Flash Support. Can you play farmville etc. on its browser. Does it have built in Office? PIcture and Video Editor? Hows the battery life when browsing? hows the multi tasking capability
how mch po ang X10 dyn sa atn and compare po sa i9810 alin po mas ok?
kc po sa specs sheet and other reviews, it seems that i8910 is mch better..(ung OS lng po mejo d ko gsto sa i8910…kng nging winMo lng sna..)
curious lng po coz im planning to buy..
or alin po ba mch better, X10,i8910, omnia 2, satio,or HTC HD 2??
(i dont like the iphone :p)
Saw and hold the Xperia X10 display unit in Cyberzone Megamall. It’s like a bigger iPhone (white model) ran over by a “pison.” :-) It’s oversized.
i think there are 3 stores in tipidcp who are selling bnew units of this for just 29k. it also comes with a one year store warranty. i just don’t know if it has a sony ericsson warranty
please compare the Rachael UI with HTC’s Sense UI.
really curious about SE’s customizations.
thanks!
looking forward to this phone…
can’t wait for your review on this one.
agree with ryan ang
reviews from the net says too much eyecandy on this one and it slows the phone.
will be waiting for the review :)
It’s an Android phone with class. :D
whew….”wish ko lang” yan…still stick to my oldie goody nokia phone though…maybe if sir abe inspires to give his S.E. experia x10…it’s my pleasure to accept it without any second thought…joke lang sir abe…just hoping though..hahaha. looking forward for more reviews of this new product of S.E.
The greatness = Xperia X10
A piece of art from SE!!!
would love to hear your take on a local variant. So far with the reviews on the net, the phone is pretty slow (or it slows down).
will be watching out for that review :)
i want one too… sony ericsson’s first android phone <3
i hope this turns out to be good in your reviews :D
its in my wish list
screen looks crisp!
