Xiaomi has finally sent us a statement which clarifies the confusing distributorship issue in the Philippines.
In April and May, we published two stories that indicate the return of Xiaomi’s products in the PH market. One is under Grimalkin 12 (MiAuthorizedResellerPH 15 on Facebook) which is a part of the Star Paper Group based in Quezon City, while the other went by the name Mi Home PH on Facebook and Lazada.
When Mi Home PH started to gain an audience, Grimalkin then posted on Facebook saying that they are “Xiaomi’s official and sole Philippine partner”, and that Mi Home PH is “not affiliated with Xiaomi.”
Since this has caused confusion with customers, we sent out an email to our contacts in Xiaomi Global to help clear the issue. Below is the statement issued by a Xiaomi spokesperson:
Xiaomi currently does not have official distributors in the Philippines. All official announcements in the future will come directly from Xiaomi.
Based on that statement, it’s safe to assume that both companies are not “official distributors”. They can still sell Xiaomi products but cannot claim that they are the official distributor until Xiaomi says so themselves.
I really dont care if they are official or not, i just want reasonably priced xiaomi goods in good quality and condition that i can buy.
Mi Home PH never claimed that they are the official distributor of Xiaomi. They claimed that they are one of the resellers of Xiaomi unlike the Grimalkin, they “proudly” announced to everyone that they are the “official and sole Philippine partner” of Xiaomi and they even labelled the other reseller as “FAKE” WTH?? who are they to tell everyone if one’s business is legit????
But you have to admit that they presented themselves as ‘official’ by saying “We know you missed Mi” and “Mi is back” and that was very misleading since we all know Xiaomi used to have an OFFICIAL presence in the Philippines in the past. If a local Mi account announces “they’re back”, immediately believing it as official would be your first and natural response. The tech blogs were not spared from that response. In fact, they helped ‘confirm’ that Xiaomi is indeed back through Mi Home PH.
Na-unsyami or better yet na-un-xiaomi.

So the Mi store that was reportedly supposed to open on August at SM North EDSA is not an official store of Xiaomi???

They’re both claiming they’re official distributors and the other is not. It adds to the confusion rather than help Xiaomi users and supporters understand the real situation and official plans of Xiaomi in the Philippines.
