Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 and Note 5 Pro launched in India

After several rumors and leaks online and the official announcement of the reveal date just a few days ago, we finally get to meet Xiaomi’s latest duo — The Redmi Note 5 and Note 5 Pro. The Note 5 Pro is the first ever phone to be powered by Qualcomm’s newest Snapdragon 636 processor and the first Redmi Note to have dual cameras.

First up, is the Redmi Note 5. The new Note is equipped with a 5.99-inch FHD+ 18:9 display protected Corning Gorilla Glass, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 625 octa-core processor, Adreno’s 506 GPU, 3/4GB of RAM, 32/64GB of internal storage, MIUI 9.2 based on Android 7.1.1, and a 4,000mAh battery.

As for the cameras, it comes with a 12MP f/2.2 rear with a 1.25um pixel sensor and a 5MP front.

Next up, the beefier Redmi Note 5 Pro. The Note 5 Pro is equipped with a5.99-inch FHD+ 18:9 display protected by Corning Gorilla Glass, Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 636 octa-core processor, Adreno’s 509 GPU, 4/6GB RAM, 64GB internal storage, MIUI 9.2 based on Android 7.1.2, and a 4,000mAh battery.

As for the cameras, it comes with a dual 12MP Sony IMX 486 + 5 MP rear and a 20MP front with a Sony IMX376 sensor. Xiaomi is touting the Note 5 Pro as their best camera phone to date. They also introduced a lot of new selfie features via their Beautify 4.0 program and Artificial Intelligence (AI).

The company also revealed that they’ll be adding in Facial Recognition to the Note 5 Pro in the coming months.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 is priced at Rs. 9,999 (~Php 8,118) for the 3/32GB variant and Rs. 11,999 (~Php 9,741) for the 4/64GB one. While the Redmi Note 5 Pro is priced at Rs. 13,999 (~Php 11,365) for the 4/64GB variant and Rs. 16,999 (~Php 13,801) for the 6/64GB one. Both devices will go on sale in India on Feb 22. Local availability and pricing are yet to be announced.
