Dbrand unveils ‘Killswitch’ case—potentially reveals Nintendo Switch 2 design

Listen to article

Protective case maker Dbrand may have already revealed what the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 could look like.

The company has announced the “Killswitch” case—designed for the next generation of the Nintendo Switch hardware.

Dbrand shared image renders of their products with an accompanying 360-degree view. Based on these materials, there are still the two Joy-Cons in blue and red colors. But the right controller adds a mysterious button beside the Home button.

The Joy-Cons are reportedly magnetically attached to the console with an ‘eject button’ from the back. Furthermore, the console’s overall form factor will be similar to the previous gen, Dbrand says.

Dbrand CEO, Adam Ijaz claims that the design is based on a 3D scan of the actual hardware. And as for the release window, the CEO suggests a March or early April release potentially confirming the expected launch of the Switch 2 within the same timeframe.

On paper, the Switch 2 is expected to sport a larger 8-inch OLED screen, 12GB of RAM and a new chipset offering 60 fps at 1080p, docked.

While Nintendo has yet to make any announcement, many sources point to an April 2025 release. The official info that has been confirmed so far is that the Switch 2 will support backwards compatibility.
