Listen to article

Globe’s mobile payment service, GCash, has assisted the Philippine National Police (PNP) and National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to arrest an online scammer on Facebook.

Last Thursday, the NBI and PNP have tracked down a fake online seller with GCash. Victims of the seller have stated that they paid for the items, but the seller would not deliver it.

One example of the crime is an iPhone where the buyer has sent PHP 4,500 pesos to the online scammer, but would not receive the device. The victim has given this report to authorities.

The suspect is known as Rachelle Luzon, a 21-year-old. She was arrested by NBI’s Cyber Response Unit in Quezon City and has been charged for swindling.
