Gmail now converts email address, phone numbers, and contacts to hyperlinks

Listen to article

Google has updated its Gmail by converting email addresses, phone number, and contacts to hyperlinks.

For Gmail users, the update will automatically convert any e-mail address, phone number, and contacts into a hyperlink to save users the time of copying the said information into another email or an application.

By having this information as hyperlinks, the following actions will be executed:

  • Clicking on an address link will automatically open Google Maps.
  • Clicking on an e-mail address link will open a “compose new message” tab in Gmail.
  • On mobile, pressing the phone number link will prompt a call request using the default application.

This update will be available 1-3 days after its initial roll-out all over the world.
