Google has recently announced that they’re starting to roll out Gemini Live to more users on Android. It is Google’s conversational AI similar to ChatGPT’s voice mode, but previously, it was a paid feature on Gemini Advanced.
The said feature offers continued conversations unlike the current Gemini replacement to Google Assistant that needs the users saying “Hey Google” or tapping the mic button every time to trigger it.
With Gemini Live, conversations flow naturally, allowing users to interrupt the AI and ask more questions. To access Live, simply tap on the sparkle icon on the bottom-right corner of the Gemini app.
It also works in the background, so users don’t have to stay within the app’s window to continue the chat. However, remember to say “Stop” or end the chat as it will continue running in the background until you do so.
Gemini Live initially rolls out on Gemini app 155 for Android phones set in English, with more languages to support soon. It’s also worth mentioning that Live doesn’t currently support extensions like Gmail, YouTube, or Maps that are available to the regular Gemini assistant.
