India to create AI model similar to ChatGPT and DeepSeek

It looks like India is planning to join the battle of the Artificial Intelligence (AI) models. They are creating an AI model to rival ChatGPT and DeepSeek.

India’s Union Minister of Electronics and Information Technology, Ashwini Vaishnaw, has commented that the country is in the works on making their own AI model. They state that there will be functions similar to ChatGPT and DeepSeek.

The Union Minister states that this AI model will cater to the Indian citizen needs. It is being developed with 18,693 GPUs in the facility training it. This is a similar number to ChatGPT’s training which had an estimate of 25,000 GPUs to develop it.

Vaishnaw said that the AI model may arrive around eight to ten months from now.
