Instagram lets you shop online with AR

Listen to article

Instagram is taking e-commerce to the next level, by offering AR (Augmented Reality) features to its app, so you can virtually test the product before you buy it.

In a report by Mashable, the new feature is rolling out to select brands that are selling their products on Instagram. Users can now virtually “try on” products that companies are selling such as lipsticks, and clothes that users need to be able to see on themselves before purchasing. Users can also share the augmented reality created photos to their Stories which also includes a link to the brand’s listing.

This is especially important for brands as they already use the platform to promote and sell their products with the help of influencers. By adding more shopping features, Instagram hopes to boost brand sales even more.
