Instagram to remove fake Likes, Follows, Comments

Listen to article

Instagram is removing fake Likes, Follows, and Comments from accounts that use third-party apps to boost their popularity.

According to Instagram, they’ve built machine learning tools to help identify accounts that use these services and remove the inauthentic activity.

Accounts that were identified using these services will receive an in-app message alerting them that Instagram has removed the inauthentic likes, follows and comments given by their account to others.

Instagram will also ask them to change their passwords as people who use these services share their username and password to be used by third-party apps. If a user has unknowingly shared their login credentials with a third-party app, Instagram recommends changing the password to revoke their access.

Instagram will have more updates in the coming weeks on additional measures they’re taking to tackle inauthentic activity on Instagram.
