Jaguar Land Rover SVO intros Project Hero

Fresh from the Geneva Motor Show, Jaguar Land Rover Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) shows off its new Land Rover Discovery which was designed for use by the Austrian Red Cross in an attempt to aid in saving lives.

One of the unique features it boasts is the fact that the Discovery carries its own remote-controlled drone that launches and lands on the vehicle even when it’s moving. The purpose of this aircraft is to aid Red Cross in its new search and rescue efforts in order to go to places that will usually take longer for people and vehicles to reach.

The special drone that comes with the new Discovery is equipped with the world’s first magnetic retention and self-centering technology to be able to launch from the vehicle while in motion and further maximize efficiency and cut down on disaster response times.

The deployment of Project Hero is the latest collaborative project between Land Rover and Red Cross for its 64-year global relationship. The Discovery used has the 3.0-liter TD6 engine configuration.
