OpenAI launches Prism

Listen to article

OpenAI has launched Prism, a new AI-native workspace designed to simplify scientific writing and collaboration. Powered by GPT-5.2, Prism brings drafting, editing, equations, citations, and teamwork into a single cloud-based, LaTeX-native environment.

Prism helps researchers who need to switch between PDFs and LaTeX editors and reference managers and chat tools because their work processes become disorganized. Users who access GPT-5.2 through the document can use the entire text to develop their thoughts and analyze difficult material and create revisions to boost their writing.

The platform allows multiple users to work together in real time because it provides unlimited author access for simultaneous document updates and feedback collection without causing conflicts between different document versions.

The system offers integrated equation and diagram creation tools that enable users to transform their formulas into clean LaTeX format and develop their diagrams from initial sketches. Research integration tools enable researchers to find and add appropriate studies to their writing while they work and voice recognition technology allows them to make fast and hands-free document modifications.

Prism is fully cloud-based, requiring no local LaTeX setup. It is free for ChatGPT personal users, with Business, Enterprise, and Education access coming soon.
