Pixel 9 series gains AirDrop-like file sharing feature

Listen to article

Google is bringing its Quick Share with AirDrop interoperability to the Pixel 9 series. The feature, first introduced with the Pixel 10 lineup last year, now allows Pixel 9 series users to send and receive files directly to and from Apple devices using AirDrop.

The update provides improved file sharing capabilities between Android and iOS users who use Google smartphones. Supported Pixel devices enable users to discover nearby AirDrop-compatible Apple devices when the feature is activated.

Google says that the rollout will happen in the coming days through server-side updates and software patches. The feature will become available to additional Android devices beyond Pixel models later this year, with more information expected to be revealed at Google I/O 2026 in May.
