Qualcomm has announced a more powerful variant of the flagship Snapdragon 855 chipset built for gaming, the Snapdragon 855+.
According to Qualcomm, the Snapdragon 855+ is built for speed and enhanced performance. It features a Qualcomm Kryo 485 CPU Prime clocked at 2.96GHz, while the Adreno 640 GPU delivers up to 15% faster graphics rendering compared to the standard Snapdragon 855.
It also boasts the Qualcomm Snapdragon Elite Gaming for better gaming performance, featuring the Vulkan 1.1 Graphics Driver that runs off 20% less power than the Open GL ES. Other features include Game Jank Reducer, Game Fast Loader, and Game Anti-Cheat Extensions, to name a few.
Other features include 4th-gen on-device AI engine using the Qualcomm Hexagon 690 processor with support for XR(virtual reality/augmented reality) applications, Snapdragon X50 modem for 5G connectivity, Qualcomm aptX Audio, Qualcomm Aqstic, and support for True HDR.
Commercial devices based on Snapdragon 855+ are expected to be commercial 2H 2019.
