Samsung Gear VR price set at $199

A Samsung representative has indicated that the Gear VR will be sold with a price tag of just $199PHP 11,678INR 16,865EUR 190CNY 1,448.

That’s pretty affordable when compared to the Oculus Rift which is pegged at about $399PHP 23,416INR 33,815EUR 380CNY 2,904.

However, bear in mind that the Samsung Gear VR will be using the Galaxy Note 4 as the HUD so that entails another $799PHP 46,890INR 67,715EUR 761CNY 5,815 (~Php35,000USD 596INR 50,561EUR 568CNY 4,344) to build the whole set.

We’re expecting the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 to arrive in the Philippines sometime late October but we’re not sure if the Gear VR will tag along with it.
