Google is reportedly planning to relaunch YouTube Premium Lite, a more affordable subscription tier aimed at users seeking an ad-free experience without additional features. Initially introduced in select European markets in August 2021, the service was discontinued in October 2023.

The revived YouTube Premium Lite is expected to offer ad-free viewing across the majority of YouTube videos. However, it will exclude benefits such as background playback and offline downloads. This move appears to cater to users desiring an uninterrupted viewing experience without the comprehensive features of the full Premium subscription.
Anticipated pricing for YouTube Premium Lite is approximately €5.99 in European markets and AU$12 in Australia. The service is expected to roll out in key markets, including the United States, Australia, Germany, and Thailand. This strategic relaunch aims to provide a budget-friendly alternative for users and potentially boost subscription-based revenue for content creators.
This development reflects Google’s response to user demand for a more accessible ad-free option, especially for those less inclined to utilize features like YouTube Music.
