MediaTek Helio P90 chipset now official

MediaTek has officially announced the Helio P90 chipset that features octa-core processors, PowerVR GM 9446 GPU, CorePilot technology, and APU 2.0 AI solution.

MediaTek considers the Helio P90 as an AI processing powerhouse and features their latest APU 2.0, a new generation AI architecture for AI processing boost that can generate 1127GMACs which is 4.6 times more performance than the Helio P60 and P70.

The Helio P90 sports two ARM A75 processors operating at up to 2.2GHz and six A55 processors operating at up to 2.0GHz. Handling the graphics is an Imagination Technologies PowerVR GM 9446 GPU. Guiding its performance is MediaTek’s CorePilot technology to make sure everything’s running efficiently.

When it comes to imaging, the Helio P90 has support for up to 48MP camera or 24+16 MP dual cameras. Users can capture at 48MP with up to 30 frames per second (FPS) with zero shutter delay, or super slow-motion at 480FPS in HD. There’s also an upgraded triple image signal processors (ISPs) capable of 14-bit RAW and 10-bit YUV processing.

Connectivity-wise, the Helio P90 supports dual SIM dual VoLTE 4G LTE WorldMode with Cat-12 (DL) / Cat-13 (UL) 4G LTE modem. 4×4 MIMO and 256QAM provides better data throughput in highly populated areas and also supports 2×2 802.11ac and Bluetooth 5.0.

The Helio P90 is expected to be available globally in consumer devices starting in Q1 2019.
