Globe Telecom has just announced in their Facebook page a promo called the Cloudfone Trade-In Rush which lets you trade-in your old handset for a brand-new Cloudfone device.
You can avail the promo by bringing your working handset at any of the Cloudfone kiosks in SM Sta. Mesa, Star Mall EDSA-Shaw, or Central Mall Biñan Laguna. Your phone will then have to pass the pre-set criteria set by Cloudfone before you can purchase a new Cloudfone device. Below is the list of the phones accepted for trade-in and their corresponding trade-in value:
If your unit passed the criteria, the old phone’s trade-in value will be deducted from the SRP of the new Cloudfone phones. Take a look at the list of the Cloudfone units being offered and their retail price:
All Cloudfone devices purchased with trade-in discounts are bundled with FREE Globe Prepaid SIMs which can be registered to free three (3) PowerSurf 50 MB or Mobile Internet of 50 MB valid up to 30 days, or free one (1) SIM service with three options to choose from.

Globe (and other telcos for that matter),
should follow examples of telcos from other countries (at&t, verizon, docomo, au, and others)
in offering cellphone units/rebranding/customizing.
The customers will invest with them,
so why not invest more, too.

– instead, you come up w/ a Trade-In rush that insults and intends to pull a fast one over potential customers …
– Most likely the cloudfone units here will be locked to Globe so those who are not wise enough to have it unlocked will be sucked dry care of the free Globe Prepaid SIM (magic: disappearing load)… :)
– another thing, this kind of promo is what can be expected from Globe, who has ugly phones for loyalty/retention plans. :)

you mean meron pa rin tong promo na to from smart.. i thought naubos na galaxy nexus nila? i got 1 here in baguio.. and its really a great buy.. planning to have another 1 pero wala na raw stock..;( i used to have 8 LTP plans sa globe 2 nlng natitira.. if only they offered the same bill rebate na inoffer sa akin two years ago…

sorry if my post was a bit confusing, what i meant was smart comes up w/ a couple of promo per year. some of my friends got the nexus some got the piso sale, etc. and all these offers are available as retention/loyalty reward to their existing subscribers, while in the case of Globe all they have is this Cloudfone tradein, not sure how good the reset promo they have for the iphone5, but i would think that the reset price does not give a big discount to globe’s loyal customers.
I think in some branches Smart still offers the better plan but w/ a different handset bundled since the nexus i9250 are sold out.
judging by the lists of handsets these most likely are the same handsets that globe has offered in the past and might be reused by Globe as either replacement unit or broken down for replacement parts

What a rip off. Lagi na nga walang signal, palpak na service, pag nag complain ka dahil ang 3G mo na pagkamahal mahal eh non-existent eh ang spiel sayo nag uupgrade po kasi kami ng speed sa area. Yeah right.

punta ka sa wireless center nila then sabihin mo na pag di pa nila inaayos service sa area nyo eh ask for a partial suspension ng plan then sabihin mo na saka nlng nila iactivate uli in naayos na nila ang system upgrade nila sa area.. isipin mo parang ngbabayad ka ng service na di mo ngagamit kc d nman ngeexist… i remembered a tym, (sa smart wireless center nman), when a lady,(cguro mayaman, kaya malakas ang loob), is asking na icut nlng nila yung line nya if d pa naayos ang problem ng line nya with in a week, then humingi pa cya ng written apology galing sa manager ng wireless center na pwede nya gamitin as proof na palpak ang advertised na service nila, (cguro gagamitin nya yun in case na idemanda cya ng smart for non paying of bills). ayun sory ng sory yung manager s wireless center na yun.. kaya ganun din gawin mo, kc sayang ang binabayad mo..

The way i see it, this is a scam. Our 9900’s will be sold by cloudfone in Greenhills para pagkakitaan ang blackberry phones natin. And to think Globe allowed itself to be used in this fake promo. Shame on you Globe
Those are insane trade-in values, and I mean that in a very bad way. I honestly believe only crazy people will bite.
Unsolicited Advice: They should have just slashed the prices off if they really wanted to sell their phones.
You hit it big there bro – slash the prices to make their units competitive. Millions of Filipinos are sensible enough not to go overboard in buying a smartphone. 7K-up is too much. Even though there’s a lot more smartphones to choose nowadays, price still weights heavily at the point of purchase. That’s why Flare’s unbelievably low price-feature set won the crowd. Just look at the pictures of the crowd lining up during Flare day.
cloudfone’s dreaming…any of that phone is better than a cloudfone…wouldnt trade any of those for a chinaphone…

Haven’t tried out any of these Cloudfones, but reading MindanaoBob’s statement kinda made me interested about the durability of these OEM rebrands in general.
I bought 3 units of Cloudfone 500g over the holidays. Two units were defective. The units were replaced, and both replacements were also defective. I would be very careful buying Cloudfone.

Mom also got a cloudfone 430g except it had issues with the 2nd sim (fails to detect both sim unless you leave 1 sim open)

The issue on both phones is that you cannot answer a call. If you try to answer, it just keeps ringing, and then the phone freezes. You then have to reboot the phone.

Is anyone sane enough to trade in these handsets for a cloudfone? Some of those Android based handsets are almost equivalent or exceed those low end cloudfone models while the Ashas themselves can outperform Cloudfones in terms of battery life (except for 430x) . The 430g itself can be outdone by a Cherry Mobile Flare or a Starmobile Astra while having better specs.
Also I doubt any user of BB would trade it in since most of those units has a higher value and exclusive access to bbm
