As part of its expansion and making its presence known in Asia, American retail giant Amazon is allegedly planning to launch in Singapore early next year.

Sources close to the company told TechCrunch that Amazon has already started to make a move by acquiring assets and hiring people in time for its planned launch during the first quarter of 2017. It’s been reported that the initial introduction will offer selected services in Singapore but Amazon is yet to release a formal statement regarding this.
When this plan pushes through, the company will be one step closer to offering local services in Southeast Asia and further widening the reach to potential consumers (about 600+ million of us).
This could mean that Amazon will enter Philippines later on with Singapore acting as the main hub just like how the Apple PH Online Store currently has SG. It would be interesting to wait and find out how this would turn out. Stay tuned.
