Discord rolls out noise suppression feature to desktop

Listen to article

Discord has announced that it has a new noise suppression feature early in beta in partnership with Krisp.ai.

In a blog posted on Friday, Discord said that they have seen a spike on usage due to COVID-19 as it is also being used as a platform for virtual classrooms and remote working. Since people are mostly working from home, background noise can be a problem. This is where the new noise suppression feature from Krisp comes in.

“This new tech detects and removes background noises happening around you so your voice can be heard clearly. Have a vacuum running in the background; slam a door; ruffle a bag of chips; keep using your really loud keyboard your friends complain about. They won’t be able to hear it.”

To enable this feature, open Discord on desktop, go to “User Settings” –> “App Settings” ? “Voice and Video” ? “Advanced” ? “Noise Suppression”.

Noise suppression arrives in Discord today and will roll out to 100 percent of desktop users. Do note that the feature is still in early beta.
