PSBank Adds Security Feature to Prevent ATM Fraud

In an effort to protect ATM cardholders from fraudulent transactions, PSBank has launched a new security feature called PSBank ATM Lock tool which allows PSBank ATM cardholders to prevent transactions by locking the ATM card using the PSBank Mobile app.

From the PSBank Mobile app (available on Apple App Store and Google Play Store), ATM cardholders can lock/unlock an account with a few simple steps (seen below).

A confirmation message that the ATM card has been locked/unlocked will be displayed on the app. Cardholders will also receive a confirmation email about it on the email address that they’ve used on the PSBank Mobile app.

PSBank urges its patrons to use the new security feature after every transaction using an ATM card, saying that it will provide “an additional layer of protection against ATM skimming, an illegal and unauthorized copying of cardholder information in a card which is usually perpetrated with the use of devices and other similar ATM card-based related fraud”.

The PSBank ATM Lock tool is free to use and is available for all PSBank clients with PSBank Regular ATM card, PSBank Debit MasterCard, PSBank Prepaid MasterCard or PSBank Flexi Personal Loan with Prime Rebate ATM card.

    laudable.

however, I hope the web site that powers their mobile app is very much highly-available just like their ATM machines. otherwise, what if you really need to use the ATM but the mobile app is not working properly? that will prevent you from being able to unlock your account.

they should still invest in technology to prevent ATM skimming, such as smart cards. magnetic strip cards should be completely obliterated from the face of this earth.
