YouTube is testing a new two-person Premium subscription tier in select countries—specifically India, France, Taiwan, and Hong Kong. This new plan allows users to share their YouTube Premium benefits with one other person, making it a more affordable option for households with just two users.

According to a report by MoneyControl, the new plan is being piloted at INR 219 per month in India (around PHP 150), while the Music Premium version is available at INR 149. Compared to paying for two separate individual plans (INR 149 x 2), the shared plan offers notable savings and lands just slightly below the current YouTube Premium Family Plan that supports up to six users for INR 299.
To qualify, both users must be at least 13 years old, have active Google accounts, and be part of the same Google Family Group
—YouTube’s system for sharing services with household members.

The new tier appears to be aimed at boosting adoption among smaller households, couples, or roommates who find the existing individual and family plans either too expensive or excessive for their needs.
YouTube Premium has seen multiple price hikes in markets around the world in recent years. Depending on the subscription type, users have reported price increases ranging from 12% to 60%.
At this time, there’s no word yet if the two-person Premium tier will be rolled out globally. However, given the rising number of streaming services, shared accounts, and that new 12% VAT in the Philippines, the option could appeal to many users looking for better value.
Stay tuned for updates if and when this plan becomes available in more countries, including the Philippines.
