However, instead of just riding the waves, Avegant has taken the Virtual/Augmented Reality fad to the next level with their device dubbed as the Glyph. But as cool as it may seem, we find the Rift too bulky for comfort; a complete opposite of Avegant’s Glyph that can pass for a high-end headphones. That’s because the Glyph is indeed a headphone with a pair of 40mm drivers on each side with a dynamic range of 20Hz – 20KHz. Of course, that’s just the whip-cream and cherry on top, the real treat lies underneath the Glyph’s headband. Instead of an obtrusive LCD/LED panel smacked in front of your face, Avegant utilized a technology coined Virtual Retina Display, which projects images straight to your eyeballs through a set of “low-power, low-light LED light". According to Avegant, their brainchild will make its debut on CES 2014 and they’ll take it to Kickstarter to gather more funding in preparation for mass production.
