The province of Cavite, under Governor Boying Remulla, has signed a memorandum of agreement with Converge to start laying fiber optic cables to service the entire population of the province. The entire project will be completed in 7 months and will target a minimum speed of 20Mbps for Cavite customers. Here's a complete quote from the governor after the signing of this MOA: Cavite: The Digital Revolution One of the most painful things to swallow is the news that reaches us that we have the slowest internet in the world. That is about to end in the Province of Cavite. Yesterday, August 17, 2017, we agreed to allow and help the company called Converge to lay its cables throughout Cavite. More than 300 kilometers of fiber optic cables will be spread out to all the 7 cities and 16 municipalities of Cavite. Converge has recently announced new fiber internet plans for as low as Php1,500 a month with speeds from 25Mbps to 500Mbps (see complete broadband plans here). Converge ICT has announced that it's rolling out high-speed broadband services at up to 100Mbps using fiber technology.
