We did a quick comparison of the top Android smartphones of three handset manufacturers last month (Samsung, Sony-Ericsson, HTC) and I thought might as well do the same with their mid-class handsets. The same 3 handset-makers have their mid-range models available locally this month -- the Samsung Spica i5700, the HTC Legend and the Sony-Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini. The X10 Mini has a good price-specs combination and could steal the spotlight while the Legend is so way up there for a lot of people to be reachable. Two very new Android devices from HTC are competing to grab our attention -- the HTC Legend and the HTC Desire, both priced quietly close to each other. The HTC Legend sports a solid and sturdy aluminum unibody design in a nice silver-black color tone while the HTC Desire has a bigger screen and more powerful processor. The HTC Legend might look better than the HTC Desire but with merely Php3,400 in price difference, people will find it hard to pick the former over the latter. This evening, HTC Philippines launched 3 new smartphones -- the HTC HD Mini, HTC Smart and the HTC Legend -- each one running a different OS. HTC Smart 300 MHz processor 2.8-inch display @ 240x320 pixels 256MB RAM, 256MB ROM up to 16GB via microSD HSDPA 3.6 Mbps Bluetooth 2.0 w/ A2DP 3.15MP camera w/ LED flash FM radio with RDS 1100mAh Li-Ion battery It's got no WiFi and no GPS so that could be a disappointment to many.
