Starlink may have a competitor soon as Europe's big time satellite companies band together to provide global communications. Back in 2018, SpaceX has released their first two satellites and it took them four more years to globally roll out Starlink's network. Starlink has sent out emails to interested users in the Philippines allowing them to reserve and put down a deposit for future services. This has put Starlink as an official internet service provider in the Philippines, albeit it will be delivered in 2022. Earlier, Converge ICT has been reported to be in talks with Starlink for a partnership to offer satellite broadband. As it turns out, Starlink can directly offer their service in the Philippines without a local partnership and this email detailing a reservation is merely the first step.
