Globe Prepaid eSIM postponed indefinitely as GlobeOne app is prepped

Last August 2023, Globe Telecom sent out a media release stating that the Globe Prepaid eSIM will be made available by the end of Q3 2023.

“By the end of this quarter, we will launch our leveled-up version of the eSIM because we recognize the opportunity and we can also monetize the convenience that eSIM can give our customers,” said Darius Delgado, Head of Globe’s Consumer Mobile Business.

“And it’s also going to restructure the way we operate because there’s less cost, it’s fully Do-It-Yourself. It’s really convenient for the customer.”

By mid-September, they also released another statement that the Prepaid eSIM will be available via the GlobeOne App 142 by the end of the month.

Purchasing an eSIM will be simple using the GlobeOne app:

● Users can easily download the FREE app
● Set up a GlobeOne account
● Request for a new eSIM

Again, the Head of Globe’s Consumer Mobile Business re-iterated the promise:

“At Globe, we’re always looking ahead, anticipating the needs of our customers in an ever-evolving digital landscape. The prepaid eSIM captures our vision of a seamless, digital-first mobile experience, marrying innovation with convenience,” – Darius Delgado, Head of Globe’s Consumer Mobile Business.

By October 1, we checked the Globe One app to get our new eSIM but could not find the facility to do so. We emailed Globe’s rep, who sent us all these press statement before asking for guidance. While hundreds of our readers are also following up with us the release, we waited for official statement from Globe.

Within the day, we received a call from corporate communications explaining the delay of the Prepaid eSIM. The answer was a little vague but it pointed to the integration of the eSIM registration via the GlobeOne app (I believe the term used was “enhancement”).

Since we did not get any new timeline for the release, we are now assuming that the availability of the Prepaid eSIM has been postponed indefinitely.

So now, like everyone else who are eager to get their Prepaid eSIM, we continue to wait. We hope this sheds light to the incessant inquiries we are getting about the Globe eSIM.
