According to a recent disclosure by PLDT, Smart’s wireless services are still growing pretty strong. Leading the pack is the fixed-wireless service Smart Bro, closing it to half a million subscribers since it first launched 3 years ago.
By end of June 2008, Smart Bro subscribers has reached about 408,000 in number. PLDT revenues from Smart Bro reached Php1.9USD 0.03INR 3EUR 0.03CNY 0.24 Billion for the first half of 2008. However, if you divide that amount by the 408k subscribers, it’s just Php776USD 13INR 1,121EUR 13CNY 96 per month per subscriber (or Php317USD 5INR 458EUR 5CNY 39 Million per month) although MSF right now is pegged at Php999USD 17INR 1,443EUR 16CNY 124. The discrepancy may be attributed to disconnection perhaps?
With Smart Bro Pug-It, the wireless mobile 3G service, published numbers reveal just 32,000 subscribers since they launched 3 months ago. Not a lot really but considering this is on top of the fixed wireless and the regular 3G usage from 3G/HSDPA phones, it’s still 50% more than a month ago.
Lastly, the new all-in-one IM service Smart Uzzap has reportedly attracted over 45,000 members. It’s still on an extended free trial period but once the fixed charges kicks in, we’ll see how many of those 45k will stay on with the service. Smart Uzzap charges a minimum of Php25USD 0.43INR 36EUR 0.41CNY 3 for a whole day service.
