Smart LTE Plan 3500 confirmed!

Listen to article

Smart has just confirmed the pricing of their new 42Mbps Smart LTE service. Their sign-up page outlines the details — 42Mbps, 10GB, at Php3,500 a month.

The postpaid Plan 3500 comes with a free LTE dongle (worth Php8k). MSF is Php3,500.

There’s are no more details of the plan except those stated above. What seems to be missing are:

● What are the exact locations of the coverage?
● What happens after you consumed the 10GB cap?
● Will they allow you to buy more bandwidth or just shut you down?
● Will they throttle you down when you reach the allocation?
● Will they switch you to HSPA+, HSPA or 3G if there are no LTE signal?

We’ll just have to wait ’til August 25 during the official public launch to find out.

-Its like a ferrari with 1 liter of gasoline…useless!

KALOKOHAN!!!

-10gig a month nowadays is crazy.

-Even if they double the cap to 20gb, it still seems too low. I don’t see the point of having that
much speed if you’re limited in terms of the bandwith. Browsing speed wouldn’t have a lot of
difference between a 3mbps connection and a 41mbps connection.

-42Mbps can eat up 10GB in roughly 30 minutes of continuous, contiguous data transfer.
Spread that out over 30 days, and you might as well just be on 1Mbps.

-42 Mbps capped at 10 GB per month? That’s not SMART.

-precisely, what would you do with the speed and have a cap?

-10 GB/month? No way.

-i can use that 10gb within 2hours. 3500 for a 2 fast movie streaming. id rather buy dvd copies!

-10GB a month at P3500/month? Too rich for my blood.
What’s the point of having phenomenal speeds like that when you cap it at 10GB a month?
either way its a bad move for smart having limited for 10gb.
Like other muggers said, its not practical. The reason why people even need faster speed,
is to consume more / download more.
You don’t need a 50mbps speed just to do internet surfing and twitter.Doesn’t make sense

-target market would probably be those who wanna show off LTE tech to friends.
for the next 3 hours at least. then he gets to show it off again next month
for another 3 hours haha

Do us a favor do not attend the launch. This is just crazy!

kundi kami umattend, pano namin malaman kung ano yung reasoning nila behind their pricing scheme?

CI
Cindy · 14 years ago

alam naman natin na ang totoong reason for the price scheme is more and more profit.
Well, it is anyone’s option to attend or not. Sana lang ay ieducate na mabuti ang subscriber and magbigay ng honest opinion kung favorable sa subscribers yung plan or hindi.

@Calvin
di ko binasa yun article yun graph lang. pero base dun sa graph sa pinost mo 42mbps na unlimited is only around 78$(3.2k php) while 42mbps with 10gb cap is around 45$(2k php). e di lumalabas na mas mura pa din dun???

pero mas mura pa rin tayo sa Japan LTE pero not by much.

@Smart wtf according to this report, http://www.wirelessintelligence.com/analysis/2012/08/european-lte-operators-look-to-new-pricing-strategies-to-boost-mobile-broadband-revenues/

mas mahal LTE bandwidth sa ibang bansa per gigabyte compared sa inooffer ng smart. are you comparing 3G bandwidth with LTE bandwidth?

Reply
SM
Smart wtf. · 14 years ago

If you compare the bandwidth to price ratio dito sa Pinas sa ibang bansa, you would be surprised kung gaano kamahal ang internet service dito..kahit i factor out mo pa ung purchasing power parity ng peso..super expensive parin grrrr..+ my cap pa..kalokohan.

This is a trap for consumers, especially for those who are not well verse about data cap, GB and mbps
I will not be surprise if many consumers will later complain of Bill Shocks

The biggest Steam game I have is the star wars the force unleashed 1. its around 14 gigs

Get with the times! Software companies are slowly trying to kill physical media formats. They’ve already started with Apple’s App Store (YES, even OS X apps can now be bought and installed on your Mac in minutes– if you actually have a functioning broadband connection), Steam, OnLive and Windows Marketplace. Even the newest version of OS X can be downloaded online from the App Store and MS is moving in the same direction. There are legal means to download all the things we pirate for a price.

10gb won’t be enough. We have the 3mbps from Bayantel with a 15gb cap and we always go over the limit a bit. All we do is FB, surf, and sometimes Youtube.

Smart just want to claim that they are the “first” to offer this kind of service in the PH for advertisement purposes but doesn’t really care about the quality of their services.

Well, practically, you need faster speeds because you download more. Hehe

10gb? not enough for a single steam game..lol pc games nowadays is over 10gb per game, even online games range from 2-4gb… well, its not about piracy or something, the question is what is the use of 42Mbps if you’re stuck with 10gb a month for 3500? 10gb is far too small nowadays…

10gb for P3500? Kahit pa 100gb for P3500. BIG JOKE YAN. Im still happy with unli net plan 999. Hindi man umaabot ng 42mbps, more than 10gb naman.

dapat ganito ang package nila. 3500 pesos a month at say 5-10 mbps. For a limited time only, while supplies last, the first 10 gigs gets a free speed upgrade to 42 mbps

yun, mas maganda pakinggan. lolz

kiora12 · 14 years ago

…point is LTE/4g is all about connection speed at un selling point ng offer ng Smart..if your main concern is data then your options is plan 999 for you to get more for what you pay for…cheers mate!!

CR
crackinthewall · 14 years ago

Actually, its not all about the speed. It’s about, as they say in Smart, living more. If its only about the speed, then they would have no need for 4G. 3G speed is enough for the average user but 4G connections allow for so much more. It’s about enabling the users to do more online, things that due to the horrible infrastructure in this country is impossible. No one can even offer a viable SD streaming service in this country because our 3G and “broadband” connections suck so bad. We are slowly starting to become more dependent on the internet, radio, TV, games, all this need no just speed but also the allotted data to actually be useful. At 10GB, you won’t even bother with HD Youtube videos. Or play games via Steam. So no matter how fast your connection is, if you can’t do anything online, it’s pointless. I can understand capping mobile data on phones but on dongles? No can do.

TU
tuyong utak · 14 years ago

Do they have a coverage map? One thing i don’t understand about the Philippines is the lack of coverage maps.

Just telling me the LTE location doesn’t show me the coverage or explain how far out i can go before i have no signal.

I remember one time i went and asked where the 4g signal was and how strong or where the weak areas were and the answer was ” if you have 4g then its working” which is a stupid answer, on globe all my 4g speed tests are less than 2Mbps down which is not in any way 4g…….. its hardly a 3g speed
