Smart has just confirmed the pricing of their new 42Mbps Smart LTE service. Their sign-up page outlines the details — 42Mbps, 10GB, at Php3,500USD 60INR 5,056EUR 57CNY 434 a month.
The postpaid Plan 3500 comes with a free LTE dongle (worth Php8k). MSF is Php3,500USD 60INR 5,056EUR 57CNY 434.
There’s are no more details of the plan except those stated above. What seems to be missing are:
â— What are the exact locations of the coverage?
â— What happens after you consumed the 10GB cap?
â— Will they allow you to buy more bandwidth or just shut you down?
â— Will they throttle you down when you reach the allocation?
â— Will they switch you to HSPA+, HSPA or 3G if there are no LTE signal?
We’ll just have to wait ’til August 25 during the official public launch to find out.

Do they have a coverage map? One thing i don’t understand about the Philippines is the lack of coverage maps.
Just telling me the LTE location doesn’t show me the coverage or explain how far out i can go before i have no signal.
I remember one time i went and asked where the 4g signal was and how strong or where the weak areas were and the answer was ” if you have 4g then its working” which is a stupid answer, on globe all my 4g speed tests are less than 2Mbps down which is not in any way 4g…….. its hardly a 3g speed
Arsie Organo Jr says:
I am actually monitoring this update from SMART because I want to know how if they will end like Wi-Tribe – a total failure.
bong says:
sana wala tumangkilik. so they will re-think about the 10gb cap. kung nung 2005 10gb cap baka pwede pa now isang malaking kalokohan na lang toh. :(
Vince says:
Not even enough to download ONE blu-ray movie with HD audio and other features.
bensy says:
correct me if i’m wrong but 10GB is just equivalent to 32.5minutes of use at full speed of 42mbps.
it doesnt makes sense and simply not practical
Nimrod says:
3500 Pesos for a 10gb data plan? That’s rediculous.
@42mbps, i would exceed the 10gb cap for 1-2 days usage.
R2 says:
10GB, more or less 4-6 HD movies lang, no thanks. =)
kiora12 says:
….guys un ang point ng smart…kze since fast connection masyadong magiging pabor to sa mga pirata kung tataasan nila un bandwidth if you guys are talking about movie download…just so you know tayo na ang my pinaka best deal when it comes to internet connection/access/plans kung kukumpara to other countries.
vince says:
dapat ganito ang package nila. 3500 pesos a month at say 5-10 mbps. For a limited time only, while supplies last, the first 10 gigs gets a free speed upgrade to 42 mbps
yun, mas maganda pakinggan. lolz
Mark says:
10gb for P3500? Kahit pa 100gb for P3500. BIG JOKE YAN. Ang mag-subscribe lang sa plan na yan ay ang mga taong wala na magawa sa pera. Im still happy with unli net plan 999. Hindi man umaabot ng 42mbps, more than 10gb naman.
Ramon says:
Too bad, it was too good to be true anyway
Waiting for globe’s move…please give smart some competition @-@ lower the prices!
Rmil says:
10gb? not enough for a single steam game..lol pc games nowadays is over 10gb per game, even online games range from 2-4gb… well, its not about piracy or something, the question is what is the use of 42Mbps if you’re stuck with 10gb a month for 3500? 10gb is far too small nowadays…
Jovz says:
10gb @ Php3,500? Good luck to them =))
knives809 says:
Well, practically, you need faster speeds because you download more.

Smart just want to claim that they are the “first” to offer this kind of service in the PH for advertisement purposes but doesn’t really care about the quality of their services.

Not even enough to download Battlefield 3!

ulol kayo smart. kaya nga andaming gumagawa ng illegal na activities sa inyo dahil sa katangahan ng services nyo.

10gb won’t be enough. We have the 3mbps from Bayantel with a 15gb cap and we always go over the limit a bit. All we do is FB, surf, and sometimes Youtube.

this is like having a 10sec car but you only have 50 meters of driving lane. tsk tsk tsk. i’d rather have a regular broadband speed with unlimited bandwidth (sun cellular)

Sana my mag educate sa mga low-average internet users sa internet speeds, para naman nai2sip ng mga telcos na hindi nila mauuto ang mga internet users dito sa pinas at hindi na rin sila maka pag come-up ng ganito pang mga promos.

This plan is favorable to Smart.
This is a trap for consumers, especially for those who are not well verse about data cap, GB and mbps
I will not be surprise if many consumers will later complain of Bill Shocks
LG Promo Victim says:
burn in hell smart communications!!!!
burn in hell LG mobile phones!
rico says:
high speed. low data cap. perfect formula for bill shocks
Smart wtf. says:
If you compare the bandwidth to price ratio dito sa Pinas sa ibang bansa, you would be surprised kung gaano kamahal ang internet service dito..kahit i factor out mo pa ung purchasing power parity ng peso..super expensive parin grrrr..+ my cap pa..kalokohan.
Calvin says:
@Smart wtf according to this report, http://www.wirelessintelligence.com/analysis/2012/08/european-lte-operators-look-to-new-pricing-strategies-to-boost-mobile-broadband-revenues/
mas mahal LTE bandwidth sa ibang bansa per gigabyte compared sa inooffer ng smart. are you comparing 3G bandwidth with LTE bandwidth?
gearz says:
@Calvin
di ko binasa yun article yun graph lang. pero base dun sa graph sa pinost mo 42mbps na unlimited is only around 78$(3.2k php) while 42mbps with 10gb cap is around 45$(2k php). e di lumalabas na mas mura pa din dun???

Sir Abe and Calvin,

COMMENTS:
-10gig a month nowadays is crazy.
-Even if they double the cap to 20gb, it still seems too low. I don’t see the point of having that much speed if you’re limited in terms of the bandwith. Browsing speed wouldn’t have a lot of difference between a 3mbps connection and a 41mbps connection.
-42Mbps can eat up 10GB in roughly 30 minutes of continuous, contiguous data transfer. Spread that out over 30 days, and you might as well just be on 1Mbps.
-42 Mbps capped at 10 GB per month? That’s not SMART.
-precisely, what would you do with the speed and have a cap?
-10 GB/month? No way.
-i can use that 10gb within 2hours. 3500 for a 2 fast movie streaming. id rather buy dvd copies!
-10GB a month at P3500/month? Too rich for my blood.
What’s the point of having phenomenal speeds like that when you cap it at 10GB a month?
either way its a bad move for smart having limited for 10gb.
Like other muggers said, its not practical. The reason why people even need faster speed,
is to consume more / download more.
You don’t need a 50mbps speed just to do internet surfing and twitter.Doesn’t make sense
-target market would probably be those who wanna show off LTE tech to friends.
for the next 3 hours at least. then he gets to show it off again next month
for another 3 hours haha
