Finding your niche, or stumbling into one.

In the last couple of months, I have seen several blogs that transform into some sort of a focus blog. I can only assume how the transformation was triggered. One of the bigger successes that underwent this kind of transformation in the last couple of months was that of Retz.

His started off as a personal/technical blog and has now become of the leading sites to visit when looking out for news and updates about the recent TV reality hit “Pinoy Big Brother“. When the TV series went on air, almost everyone was blogging about it. I did a single post here as well though it was on a trivial approach with the hopes that this blog would at least get a piece of the action from web searches. That entry has become one of the most visited page for PBB and the discussions have spanned over 25 pages and 17,000 pageviews.

Anyway, Retz blog showed up as one of the top results for the keyword “Pinoy Big Brother” and him realizing that traffic has gone several folds overnight, he continued to blog about it and found his niche. I don’t have his stat figures but to think that he is consistently on the Top 15 of Pinoy Top Blogs, I’d say the numbers are significantly high.

There are other blogs around that went thru similar transformation. A transformation that was prompted or influenced by the amount of traffic that flowed into their blog thru the search engines. I’m sure Markku has an interesting story to share for his blog as well.

Share your blog transformation here and how you found your niche.

I’ve tried several times to focus on something, but I always find myself talking about 100 other things. I just blog to blog. I think my traffic is high because I’ve had my domain for 5 years now.

I saw PBB’s potential weeks before it was about to air, I was hesitant at first kasi may mga “solid kapuso” and “solid kapamilya” thingie. Sana I could pull up more tricks up my sleeve like master yugs.

it’s quite hard to find your niche..retz did a good job of finding his and another thing that helped him catapult into blogger stardom was winning ProBlogger’s t-shirt design contest. i already have a niche in mind but this one is seasonal..i just hope that it helps me get more traffic for my site. :)
