Snapdragon X Elite is coming to desktop PCs, Qualcomm confirms

Qualcomm CEO Christiano Amon took the stage at Computex in Taipei this year with a bold claim: the “PC is reborn,” and it’s powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chips. While the industry has mostly moved on from Windows on ARM attempts, Qualcomm says this time it’s different, thanks to their new Snapdragon X Elite processor and a close partnership with Microsoft.

The biggest news is Qualcomm aiming to put Snapdragon chips in ‘all PC form-factors from portable laptops to larger PC desktops. They’ve partnered with major manufacturers like ASUS, Dell, and HP to launch a wave of Snapdragon-powered PCs as early as June 18th.

Ss Snapdragon Pc Reborn Keynote

Of course, one of the highlights of their keynote was on the transformative power of AI. Qualcomm claims their new NPU will enable features like intelligent assistants that can diagnose appliance problems and translate languages in real time during video calls.

Currently, there are over 20 Copilot+ PCs available with Snapdragon chips rocking NPUs that provides up to 45 TOPS.

Qualcomm also acknowledged the importance of gaming, mentioning that over 1200 games (including AAA games) have been tested for compatibility with Snapdragon X Elite. However, they were light on specifics regarding performance benchmarks.
