Microsoft tests revamped widgets panel on Windows 11 replacing the MSN feed

Listen to article

Microsoft is testing a revamped widgets panel in Windows 11, replacing the MSN feed with the so-called “Copilot Discover”. As the name suggests, it incorporates AI to curate stories based on the user’s interests and Copilot activity.

The new layout looks cleaner and runs smoother, with larger story cards and faster scrolling. Users can now interact with stories by voting, bookmarking, or managing sources.

A new Notifications button highlights breaking news, weather, and stock updates, and alerts can also be customized.

Notably, the widgets are now moved to an entirely separate tab, with just the weather widget fixed on the main panel. Microsoft is also testing in-panel article reading and widget support for the lock screen.

The feature is still in limited testing, with a wider rollout expected if feedback is positive.
