DSWD eyes digital cash aid payout for PUV drivers with e-wallet partners

Listen to article

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) is moving toward digital payouts for the next round of cash aid for public utility vehicle (PUV) drivers. The agency recently held a virtual summit with banks, e-wallet providers, and electronic money companies to speed up the process.

DSWD said digital payouts provide a faster and safer method to distribute aid, which requires less work than traditional cash distribution through manual over-the-counter distribution. Qualified drivers will receive support through mobile wallets or bank accounts instead of waiting in line to receive cash.

The agency said it will use traditional payment systems when necessary, but digital payment systems offer better transparency, customer convenience, and reduced operational costs. Drivers will have the option to select between various financial service providers and electronic wallet services with which the company has established partnerships.

Interested providers must submit their requirements to DSWD by April 15, 2026.
