Is Microsoft getting its groove back?

For the longest time, a lot of industry pundits refer to Microsoft as a dinosaur — unable to grow and innovate, relying on its foothold and near-monopoly of the PC business to thrive. But lately, with the number of announcements coming out of the Redmond giant’s doors, that impression could be changed.

Three new products made the headlines for Microsoft this year:

Windows 7 Beta. A fresh new OS, garnering rave reviews and great first impressions. Not too shabby for a beta product and the final release is said to be on October 22 this year.

Bing is Microsoft’s decision engine, a reincarnation of Live Search. See more of their commercials here.

Project Natal for XBox 360, the latest announcement coming from E3 that wowed everyone. All that hand gestures reminded me of Minority Report.

For the longest time, there was nothing new and exciting from Microsoft. One flop after another led many to believe Microsoft is just one gargantuan dinosaur unable to deliver anything fresh and exciting.

These 3 new products showed a lot of skeptics that Microsoft still has it. And I agree.

Bing looks promising but I think its too early to tell. Especially with search god Google as its competition. Bing looks promising though. But what Im really excited is the Natal.

I’m pretty sure Windows 7 would be awesome. As for Project Natal and Bing, I am not so sure if they can deliver! Microsoft has a bad reputation for blowing out on first tries!

you, having a new OS is sometimes irritating. But it means progress as well. As to microsoft, that’s the disadvantage of becoming so big, you are very much expose to small players

Even Google can fail spectacularly once in a while. An alternative search engine is always good thing.

Bing overtook yahoo and then here comes Project Natal to sweep gaming consoles by storm. I wonder how google will react bing and how sony or nintendo would rival project natal

Have seen the Project Natal infomercial and it is hard to believe that it is really possible to have a “Minority Report” kind of environment in the coming years…or months…I hope Microsoft will be offering all Vista users a free switch to Windows 7…Vista really is a drag…

Did I hear, innovation from MS.
Wow, that must be good. Quite enough though but I think Google is still my search engine. Simple but powerful.

Microsoft will regain its name when they release the full Project Natal feature shown on the commercial and the full released of the Window 7 (not Beta).

Or they will stay as “Show-off” as they always do.

    :peace:

    hehe..

definitely Natal will lead to other concepts like monitor-less computers. should i say the coming of star wars type of communications? :D
