Listen to article

If the Asus UX21 will not fit in your budget, the Taiwanese manufacturer is also bringing in a netbook with a similar form factor and with a starting price of under $200. The unit, called the Asus Eee PC X101, will also boot up with a Meego OS pre-installed.

The netbook runs on an Intel Atom N435 1.33GHz. The 10.1-inch (1024×600 resolution) X101 weighs under a kilo (950g) and is only 17.6mm thin at its base.

The Eee PC X101 has 2 USB ports, a microSD card slot, Bluetooth and WiFi 802.11b/g/n. The variant wtih Meego OS will have a small 8GB Flash drive while other variants will come with 250GB and 320GB HDD and will run on Windows 7.

Battery on this unit is a little lower than usual at only 2600mAh. That might translate to around 3 to 4 hours battery life.

Maganda ito sa mga students, hindi masyadong mahal at medyo magaan dalhin dahil sa thin form factor. For me, I would still go for a small CULV, kahit pricey pero worth it in the long run. :)

For just $200, this netbook is definitely a good buy and it’s one of the cheapest netbook ever sold. And I guess Asus wants every people to own a netbook.

Why Atoms?????? Seriously APUs are better.

Hmmm considering the price I guess it is still a pretty good deal

AMD Fusion APUs are much better in terms of price/performance ratio but i doubt that it’s not possible to put it on such slim netbook. That’s why they opted for a low-power 5 watt Intel Atom N435 which is a single core processor. With that kind of small chassis, it’s very dangerous to put a more powerful hardware…heat issues will simply arise.

I hope that they will make an AMD version of that netbook though because it’s just too tempting!
