Nikon responds with the D3 and the D300

A couple of days after Canon officially released the 40D and the EOS-1Ds Mark III, Nikon came out with a new set in its line of digital SLRs.

Meet the Nikon D3 and the D300.

Nikon D3 Digital SLR
Nikon D3 specs:
- 12.1-megapixel FX format (full frame) CMOS sensor
- 3-inch 920,000-pixel VGA viewfinder with a 170-degree viewing angle
- a 51-point autofocus system with 15 cross-type AF points
- 200-6400 ISO range

They claim that this has fastest start up time (0.12 seconds), shortest viewfinder blackout time, and shortest shutter lag (37 milliseconds) of any DSLR. Suggested retail price is $4,999.95 when it comes out in November.

Nikon D300
The lower-end Nikon D300 has this specs to boot:
- 12.3 megapixel DX format CMOS sensor
- 6 frames per second (burst)
- 200-3200 ISO range
- 3-inch viewfinder

The D300 will be available from Nikon Authorized Dealers beginning in November 2007 for an estimated selling price of $1,799.95. With the introduction of the D300, Nikon’s current lineup of digital SLR cameras now includes the new D3, D2XS, D300, D200, D80, D40x and D40.

      I got my D40 for 23,500 pesos a month ago. Most likely the price is lower by now.
