The Nikon ZR is now official as their first cinema camera developed in partnership with RED.

The model combines Nikon’s autofocus and in-body stabilization with RED’s color science and video codecs, positioning it against cameras like the Canon C50 and Sony FX3 at a lower price point.
The Nikon ZR uses a 24MP partially stacked sensor with Dual Base ISO 800/6400 and promises over 15 stops of dynamic range.

It can record 6K RAW video at 60fps, 4K at 120fps, and supports multiple formats including RED’s new R3D NE, Log3G10, Nikon N-RAW, ProRes/ProRes RAW, and H.265. Up to 10 LUTs can be loaded for monitoring.
For audio, the camera supports 32-bit float recording and features Nokia OZO surround sound with three built-in microphones. Users can select five pickup patterns including front, rear, stereo, and omnidirectional modes.
Autofocus is powered by hybrid phase detection with AI tracking for people, animals, and vehicles. Five-axis in-body stabilization offers up to 7.5 stops, while digital focus-breathing compensation is also available.
The ZR has no viewfinder but features a 4-inch 16:10 HDR display with 1,000 nits of brightness and full DCI-P3 coverage. The body weighs 540 grams and can sustain 6K RAW recording for up to 125 minutes.
Connectivity options include USB Type-C, Micro HDMI port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
The Nikon ZR is priced at ~USD 2,200 (~PHP 125K) for the body only and supports Nikon Z mount lenses as well as F mount glass with an adapter. It will be available starting October 20, 2025.
