The Nikon ZR is now official as their first cinema camera developed in partnership with RED. The model combines Nikon’s autofocus and in-body stabilization with RED’s color science and video codecs, positioning it against cameras like the Canon C50 and Sony FX3 at a lower price point. The Nikon ZR uses a 24MP partially stacked sensor with Dual Base ISO 800/6400 and promises over 15 stops of dynamic range. It can record 6K RAW video at 60fps, 4K at 120fps, and supports multiple formats including RED’s new R3D NE, Log3G10, Nikon N-RAW, ProRes/ProRes RAW, and H.265. The Nikon ZR is priced at ~USD 2,200 (~PHP 125K) for the body only and supports Nikon Z mount lenses as well as F mount glass with an adapter. Nikon introduced a new entry-level dSLR, the Nikon D3100, which has the capability of recording full HD 1080p videos. The Nikon D3100 is the successor to the popular D3000 line and brings in a set of new features and upgrades. The Nikon D3100 will come with a AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR as the kit lens.
